Bittersweet

2 am the morning of my flight...

Well this has been one adventure of a summer.. Very Long Story.. very short is that my friend Amy came over to live with me this summer and work at Camp Happy Day with me. After becoming socialites in stl we continued on to the west coast!! 5 weeks, 6000 miles on my little Honda Accord, 2,772 pictures, 9.3 Gb of Video, 7 couchsurfer hosts, 11 States, 19 cities, millions of memories, too many nights out, tens of new friends and loves, 2 attempts at surfing, -$25 in Vegas, and after all of that somehow the 2 of us made it back home safely and in time for one of my best friends to tie the knot. It has been a summer of new experiences, self awareness, and an experiment with trust in complete strangers. So here I am in the middle of my bitter sweet ending to a summer that I will never forget. I leave for Pacasmayo, Peru at 4:40 this afternoon ready to start this new adventure in life. If you would have told me last year at this time that I would be getting on another international flight this year i would have been jumping for joy and in utter disbelief. I have found something that I really love: traveling. Good or bad I take every experience that I have as part of the experience. Living in England last year really taught me that. You can't expect everything to be picture perfect during your travels and definitely not in life. There is always going to be some struggle and some discontent with your surroundings especially if you really assimilate yourself to where ever you are.

"Life is now. There was never a time when your life was not now, nor will there ever be. Wherever you are, be there totally. If you find your here and now intolerable and it makes you unhappy, you have three options: remove yourself from the situation, change it, or accept it totally." - Eckhart Tolle
